i rarely get the opportunity to brunch often because of my work schedule but when you have a day off and two of your favorite foodie friends want to grab brunch, you brunch… and you brunch good. and when you brunch good, you go to folc.
no brunch is complete without mimosas and good conversation. my good foodie friends, deya and chio make for some excellent catch-up conversation and chisme. we decided to order three dishes and share because sharing is caring, kids.
we ordered this beauty up there: griddled pound cake topped with preserves, ricotta cheese and sprinkled with powdered sugar. okay, is it just me or does powdered sugar get you excited for the holidays? it’s just me? oh okay. moving on..
this griddled pound cake was sooo delicious. my constant sweet tooth was feeling real good. the powdered sugar wasn’t overpowering in sweetness and the fresh preserves gave just the right amount of texture.
another dish we ordered which was two sausage kolaches, topped with a fried egg on a bed of fingerling potatoes. who doesn’t love kolaches? just say it… kolaches. (the words reminds me of koalas and who doesn’t love koalas?) i love eggs. i love potatoes. i love kolaches. all three together? major tasty score.
the last dish we ordered was a crab legs scramble eggs with greens, fried fingerlings and grilled toast. i never thought of incorporating crab with eggs but the two together were really delicious! the delicate taste of the crab blended beautifully with the eggs. once again, i love potatoes so i’m down with that. i didn’t get a chance to grab a slice of grilled toast because i think i was digging into my pound cake at that point. yum.
i really recommend folc’s brunch menu if you are a bruncher. the prices were very well for the quality of food you receive. take some friends. grab some of the freshly squeezed mimosas. order a ton of plates. snack. brunch. get down.
folc is located at 226 east olmos drive.
