they say the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach so what better way to surprise the special someone in your life than with this chocolate fruit tart?!

around here, we don’t believe you show someone you care on valentines day. we believe in showing someone you care every day which is why this is the perfect dessert for any occasion. let me give you a little warning, this chocolate fruit tart is rich. we have two types of chocolate dancing a sweet dance in here. on top of that, we have a bit of espresso tying in all the flavors. your taste buds will dance and sing so a little goes a long way.

this fruit tart is no bake and easy peasy. just mix the ingredients together, pop it in the fridge and wait for the jaws to drop by the beautiful creation you just made. it looks like you’ve been in the kitchen for hours but don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. enjoy!

chocolate fruit tart

Ingredients

crust ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar

filling ingredients

  • 16 oz baking chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, dark) you can use a combination if you'd like
  • 2/3 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp espresso powder mixed with 1 tbsp of water

toppings

  • 1 handful fresh fruit (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc.)

Instructions

  1. in a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter and sugar. toss to combine and fill a 4 x 14 rectangular tart pan. bake in a 350-degree oven for approx. 12 minutes or until just set. cool completely.

  2. place the chopped chocolate in a bowl.

  3. heat the cream and espresso in a saucepan until hot, but not boiling. pour into the bowl of chocolate. let this sit for a minute. stir until smooth. if it does not melt completely, place the bowl over a saucepan of boiling water for a minute to finish melting the chocolate, stirring until completely melted. pour into the baked crust.

  4. toss fresh fruit on top. refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours. you can enjoy alone, drizzle with chocolate or whipped cream.
